Merthyr Mawr is known for its huge and expansive sand dunes but the area has so much more to offer. The views from the ridge are superb offering panoramic vistas across the valley and out to sea. Walk west and you will reach the seaside town of Porthcawl, walk east and you will approach the River Ewenny where stepping stones will take you across to Ogmore Castle.

The Car Park (Pay & Display) plays host to the ruins of Candleston House, which was built between the 14th & 17th centuries.
